You've probably noticed many non-profit organizations (NPO) advertising their charitable giving campaigns on billboards, TV and other places, using a new technology; its called, "Text-to-Donate." Anyone with mobile text messaging capabilities can make a tax deductible donation to your 501 (c) 3 non-profit hospital or foundation. All you have to do is register with the Mgive Foundation at www.mgive.com and they will act as the exchange for donors and your NPO, for a small fee.
The mGive Foundation Requirements
In order to be eligible to conduct mobile giving campaigns with mGive, your organization must meet these requirements:
- US Non-Profit Organization registered as a 501c3 with at least $500,000 in annual revenues
- Letter of Determination (Form 1045)
- 501c3 must be in good standing for at least one year
- Patriot Act Compliant
- File 990
- Have privacy policy that allows for donor opt-outs
Once a donor sends a text message to your SMS donation account number a charge is entered on their mobile phone bill for $5 or $10. CNtv networked digital signage can display ads featuring your SMS donation service; its an excellent platform to highlight capital initiatives and legacy stories to promote micro-philanthropy (incremental, high frequency, small denomination giving) for your NPO; hospital or foundation.
You may also promote your "Text-to-Donate" number in multiple venues such as radio and television commercials, pamphlets, news letters, websites; virtually anywhere you choose to make your presence known. Instead of focusing only on the traditional large denomination philanthropic solicitations and fundraisers, you may now appeal to the charitable motivations of donors gratified by giving smaller affordable amounts more frequently and with just pushing a few keys on their trusted wireless handset. The small denomination affordability, security, ease of use coupled with personal satisfaction of helping and giving to others is a powerful combination.
